** Sportsmanship Cup **

On Tuesday, May 26 we had our annual Sportsmanship Cup Tournament.
Emily Kirby, winner of the 8-Ball bracket faced off against John Puccio, winner of the 9-Ball bracket, in a Master's format race to 7. The extremely close hill-hill race ended with John Puccio winning the tournament and a trip to play in MiniMania this summer in Las Vegas. In a show true sportsmanship, John offered the trip to Emily. Congratulations to both John and Emily for thier excellent showings at this tournament and an extra tip-of-the-hat goes to John for being an example of such good sportsmanship.

THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated in this tournament.

Friday, June 29th kicked-off our Local Team Championships when
the Wannabes faced off against Newton's Law in the finals of the our first
Master's Divison Championship to see who would play in the National Master's Championship this summer in Las Vegas. Please congratulate both teams for making it to the final round of this tournament. At the end of the evening the
Wannabes won the the title of 2009 Master's Champions

Congratulations to all of the teams that played in this year's
LOCAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP this past weekend at Fat Cat's Billiards.
It was a very long and exciting weekend. Everyone shot very well, but by the end of the weekend only 4 teams remained:

Now What? (from Ruby's BBQ Shack & Taphouse in Asheville)
faced off against
Any Angle (from the Pocket in
Asheville)
for the 8-Ball Team Championship.

The Cue Crew (from the Crooked Cue in Waynesville)
faced off against
Schmelke Looney Tunes (from Fat Cat's in Arden)
for the 9-Ball Team Championship.

Please take a moment to congratulate the members of these four teams. They all shot very well, but after a number of hill-hill races,
each match was decided by just a few balls.
Any Angle (8-Ball) and Schmelke Looney Tunes (9-Ball)
advanced to the National Team Championships which will be held at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in
Las Vegas this summer!

Thank you to both Fat Cat’s Billiards and to Highland Brewing Company for your contributions to help make this event possible.

The American Poolplayers Association (APA) is proud to announce they have signed a sponsorship agreement with

The Black Widow, Jeanette Lee.

Lee will be the official spokesperson for the APA and APA Pool Leagues and will appear in advertisements, commercials and other promotional materials encouraging people to compete in an APA Pool League.

Congratulations to members of our local league who have qualified for the next singles regional tournament:

Did you know that you can run a singles board for your team?  Doing so guarantees that one member of your team will compete in the singles regional tournament, the winner of which will go to Las Vegas to compete nationally!  Ask Vicki or Dave how to run a board for your team.
